Who are We?

We are a group of Christians who are striving to be Christians and Christians only. With the Bible leading us along the way. We strive to grow in our love for God, our church family and also the community in which we live.

What We Believe

The Bible is our sole authority. We speak where the Bible speaks and are silent where the Bible is silent. Anything we do as an expedient, we do not do in opposition to the Lord’s will. In Ephesians 4:11-16, we see the basic plan for the church. Individually we are all to grow in to all aspects of Christ; into a mature Christian. We encourage and teach each other to grow into a Christ-like life, so that the body will be built up in love.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus is God who came in the flesh to give us the “right” to become children of God (Jn 1:12-14). We believe that Jesus died on the cross of calvary for the sins of the world and was raised on the third day according to the promise of scriptures. His resurrection was seen by over 500 people until the time He ascended back to the Father to sit at His right hand.

The Church

The church of Christ is just that. It is not a name but a description. We are literally Christ’s church. In Matthew 16:18, Jesus said that he will build His church. The word church literally means “assembly”, so therefore we are the assembly of Christ. The ones who have entered into the body of Christ, make up the church. The church is not a building but the people whom God has added to it. We are a part of the entire body of Christ but each congregation is autonomous and is not governed by any headquarters but Christ as being the head of the church (Ephesians 1:22). Jesus has placed Elders to oversee each congregation of the Lord’s body and each eldership is responsible for the flock that has been entrusted to them (Acts 20:28).

We believe that salvation is only by grace through faith. Biblical faith is more than just accepting the facts of Jesus and God’s word. It is trusting that Jesus has the words of life and one must have a willingness to submit to Jesus as Lord and Savior. That means you must be willing to confess that Jesus is your Lord and Savior, you must be willing to repent of your sins and put off the old man by renewing the spirit of your mind, which is in the likeness of God (Luke 24:47; Ephesians 4:23-24). Our Faith accesses God’s free gift of grace when one is “clothed in Christ,” by being baptized into Christ (c.f. Galatians 3:26-29), for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38). This is in no way a “working” to earn your salvation but it is “obeying God from the heart to the pattern of teaching” (Romans 6:17).
Baptism it is the point of faith where we die to sin and we are raised to walk in newness of life. As Peter points out, “Baptism now saves you-not the removal of dirt from flesh but an appeal to God for a good conscience-through the resurrection of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 3:21). Peter shows that it is not the water that saves but it is our appeal to God for a clean conscience. It only works because of the work of Jesus and God who raised Christ from the grave!

Our Goal

Our goal is not just to convert people to Christ and be done, but to bring people closer to God by becoming Christ-like. So this means that the Christian life does not stop at entering into the body at baptism (Acts 2:42; Galatians 3:27; 1 Peter 3:20-21). Romans 6:3-7, shows us that in baptism we walk a new life so that our body of sin may be done away with. The body of Christ walks in the light as He is in the light (1 John 1:7). The Christian lifestyle brings both hope and security that if one remains faithful until death he/she will receive the crown of righteousness (Hebrews 6:19, 20; Revelation 2:20; James 1:12).

To sum it up: “We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ. For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me” (Col. 1:28-29).
